500 yd SILHOUETTE SHOOT

THIS EVENT CLOSES ALL RANGES

 

SUMMARY AND COURSE OF FIRE: Black powder rifle shooting at silhouettes between 100 and 500 yds.  Shooting is done in pairs.  Unlimited sighters, 10 rounds for score at each distance:  100 yds offhand at chicken; 200 yds prone or sitting, with crossticks, at chicken; 300 yds prone or sitting, with crossticks, at pigs; 400 yds prone or sitting, with crossticks, at turkeys; 500 yds prone or sitting, with crossticks, at rams.

EQUIPMENT:  Rifle- .38 caliber or larger black powder cartridge rifle, single shot, 1890s period.  Must use cast bullets with plain base (no gas checks).  May shoot smokeless or black powder.  All iron sights, no scopes.  Spotting scope, crossticks, mat, empty chamber indicator, ammo (suggest 100 rds).

WHEN:  Sundays, usually 2nd of each month, May through October (no Sept. shoot). Registration between 8:00-9:00 a.m., shooting starts at 9:00 a.m.

2012 SCHEDULE:  May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, no September shoot, October 14.
