500 yd SILHOUETTE SHOOT

This Event Closes the 300 Meter Range 

 

SUMMARY AND COURSE OF FIRE: Black powder rifle shooting at silhouettes between 100 and 500 yds.  Shooting is done in pairs.  Unlimited sighters, 10 rounds for score at each distance:  100 yds offhand at chicken; With Cross Sticks- 200 yds prone or sitting, at chicken; 300 yds prone or sitting, at pigs. Side matches if time & interest permits. 

EQUIPMENT:  Rifle- .38 caliber or larger black powder cartridge rifle, single shot, 1890s period.  Must use cast plain based or paper wrapped  lead bullets. NO GAS CHECKS. May shoot black powder or equivalent smokeless loads.  All iron sights, no scopes. *Handicapped shooters can request a variance for using original or reproduction scopes of the era with 3/4″ tube body and no more than (6) power magnification. The match director’s approval will be required.  Spotting scope, crossticks, mat, empty chamber indicator, ammo (suggest 100 rds), clip board, pen stool, note pad, drinks and snacks (there will not be a break for lunch so match is completed in a timely manner). 

WHEN:  Wednesdays, usually 2nd or 3rd of each month. Registration between 8:00-9:00 a.m., shooting starts at 9:00 a.m.
